Just occurred to me that I’ve been computing for almost 30 years. I was making BBS splash screens and graphics around the age of 10. Thanks for starting me on that Commodore 64 with 300 baud modem back in the early 1980s, mom.

2010 Census Jobs: Pass it on! →
The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting temporary, part-time census takers for the 2010 Census. These short-term jobs offer good pay, flexible hours, paid training, and reimbursement for authorized work-related expenses, such as mileage incurred while conducting census work. Best of all, census takers work right in their own communities. Census taker jobs are excellent for people who want to work...

Crazy idea: Use #FML for real problems, like massacre by earthquake, rather than bad traffic or long lines. Count your blessings, people.

Foursquare. Everywhere.
foursquare: Hey all - So this has been a pretty big week for us.   Since we launched last March, our #1 most requested feature has been “please add my city!”  After a few months of work, we thrilled to announce that we finally ripped apart the “foursquare only works in cities” model and replaced it with “foursquare everywhere” - the ability to add places and check-in anywhere in the world. ...

Everyday 2010 resolutions
My lofty, broader goals to Create, Contribute, and Challenge are great and all, but what about specific, everyday goals? Here they are: Get sufficient rest every night. I achieve this goal maybe once every 3 months. Drink more water. I’m terrible about this. Block out time for me to recharge my batteries. Say no to helping others 100% of the time.  Not because helping others is bad, but...

Create. Contribute. Challenge.
Ever felt like you were meant to do greater things? I do. Here’s what I’m going to do about it in 2010. Create Quit passively consuming what is sold to you from every direction.  Too often, we buy/use other people’s creations. Make the things you wished someone else would.  If that means learning a new skill, do it. Create extra choices and options for yourself and...

Welcome to 2010, so much more advanced yet unevolved than we imagined it would be.
